About Us

Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen was built on a love of real food, simple ingredients, and baking the way it was meant to be. Freshly milled flour is at the heart of what we do, bringing flavour, character, and a connection to the grain that is often lost in conventional flour.

What eventually became a bakery started around shared meals. We regularly brought homemade breads and baked goods to fellowship gatherings where everyone contributed food and gathered around the table together. Over time, friends began encouraging us to share our baking with a wider community, often suggesting we should open a bakery.

When someone from our fellowship community sent us information about a local market and encouraged us to apply, it felt like the right opportunity to take the next step. Today, Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen is our way of sharing that same spirit of hospitality, good food, and community with others.

Our Homestead

Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen is rooted in our family's homestead in rural Nova Scotia.

Our property is home to wild blueberry fields, a young orchard, vegetable gardens, and chickens. Each year we take another step toward producing more of our own food and becoming more connected to the land around us.

We believe there is value in knowing where food comes from, how it is grown, and what goes into it. In a world where food often travels thousands of miles before it reaches our tables, we're working toward a simpler approach—one rooted in real ingredients, practical skills, and a deeper appreciation for the food we eat.

While our homestead continues to grow, the values behind it already shape everything we do—from the ingredients we choose to the way we bake.

More Than Just Flour

Fresh milling began as a simple curiosity, but it quickly became something much more. The more we learned about grain, baking, and traditional methods, the more we came to appreciate the connection between simple ingredients and good food.

Milling flour fresh has changed the way we think about baking. It has taught us to slow down, pay attention to the ingredients we use, and value the process as much as the finished loaf. What may seem like a small step has become an important part of how we approach food and life on our homestead.

For us, fresh milling is about more than flour. It's about choosing quality over convenience, understanding where our food comes from, and preserving traditional skills that have nourished families for generations.
